Travel Plans, Local Cuisine and Narratives

Travel Planning

Want to make your vacation plans? Dislike regimented tours? Then you have come to the perfect place! You will find your middle ground on this site. On every blog, you will find important tidbits to be aware of before setting out on your trip, highlights of attractions, useful links, a marked google map to send to your phone, and stunning pictures! A narrative section on each blog has first-hand experiences of the traveler.  If you have no time to research where to go or plan the vacation, I have just the service for you!  I can suggest places, and then build a detailed day-to-day itinerary customized to your needs and interests. More in  Services & About. Find a list of ever-evolving, exciting places in Destinations.

Global Travels and Local Vegetarian Cuisine

Want to know what vegetarian or vegan options are available to you when you visit a new country? Be reassured that you will still find some wonderful local vegetarian food in most places. Isn’t it fun to discover new items and ingredients, and try dishes that you have not eaten before? On each blog, you will find vegetarian options that are specific to that locale. If you are like me, you would rather try the local food than head to generic global chains. If you are not very familiar with vegetarian cuisine from different parts of the world, please browse the Global Cuisines page that describes popular vegetarian food items and ingredients that have gone mainstream.

First-Hand Experiences and Stories

On every blog, in addition to the Highlights section, there is a narrative section that lets you read first-hand experiences of the traveler/author. Some blogs on this site are more like unique stories, such as a friend’s alpine climbing experience in the Himalayas, a vegan’s gastronomical journey in Utah, RV/camper van adventures and such.

We can all benefit from each other’s experiences. I feature pages with travel experiences of other contributors too. To write a page about your trip, please Contact me. Thanks to Dr. Avantika Hasija for creating beautiful videos for Travels to Savour on Youtube and Instagram.

Desirable disruption and exhilaration!

I am always thankful for the opportunities to have lived and worked in a few different places. There is a joy and anticipation when I start to uncover the nuances of a new country, start to get into its life and rhythm and make it my own. It’s not merely about travel but the cultural and social experience of living in a different country. Aspects like finding a house, a new school, new systems, ways of driving, parent involvement in activities, and discovering new food and preparations (vegetarian for me, all kinds for my family), so on and so forth….. One sees the colors of life that are so similar and yet so different when we live on different continents. The experience of moving away from the familiar is both disruptive and exhilarating. I always wonder, “what’s next”…….Read more about this traveler and blogger.

Savour your travels, the cuisine and the blogs!

Get useful information, save time, share your stories and more….I hope my travels and experiences on these pages will make it easy for you to plan your own travels and save hours of your time, especially with my custom trip service that gives you a readymade itinerary on a spreadsheet! With the ask for vegetarianism/veganism/plant-based food rising in the urban population, I see more of a need to share my own joys and travails in finding good vegetarian food that is local to a country. I avoid going to global chains.

I have other writers who have contributed their travel experiences on this site and will continue invite more of you to do so. It will be a great forum for information, a wonderful resource, a place to share each other’s experiences, share pictures, and have a lot of fun!! Thank you for your interest and being a supporter of this website! Do leave your comments on the blog pages you read.
